Rare Small Children's Desk With Step In Solid Oak - Late Nineteenth

Charming oak desk with a recessed step in the upper part. The latter has a top with a scalloped edge and consists of four small drawers carved with leaves and flowers opening with a chiseled brass button. On the desk, a sliding shelf pulls out to enlarge the work surface. This one is lined in its center with a magnificent brown leather with central vignette and golden frieze. Below, a large drawer shaped in relief is embellished with a nicely worked key and an original lock. It is framed and engraved with stars in its corners. The set is supported by four soberly turned legs.
