"Bronze “the Shepherd And His Dog”, Signed G.omerth – Early 20th Century"
Bronze with brown patina signed on the terrace by the French sculptor Georges Omerth. A student of the sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, Omerth exhibited regularly at the Society of French Artists between 1895 and 1925. This print depicts a shepherd, with a long beard, his face with features marked by time. The old man in the hat, wearing clogs, tries to warm himself under his long cape struggling with the wind. The side dog stares at his master with a look full of kindness as if to share the pain of this old shepherd surrounded by solitude. This unique work is a tribute to the shepherds and shepherds of yesteryear. ******** Period: Early 20th Century Excellent condition.
