Christ In Majesty, King Of Blessing Glory, Sixteenth Century. flag

Object description :

"Christ In Majesty, King Of Blessing Glory, Sixteenth Century."
Beautiful representation of the seated Christ, Christ of the Ascension, glorious beyond the earthly world and blessing it.
Perfect image of the Father, elbows apart and palms open, eyes down.
Sculpture carved in oak, with the tight grain, has become rather light. The face of Christ, who wears the crown of thorns and the sore on side has changed, beard and long hair, face of gravity and kindness.
French work, probably early 16th, keeping a style still Gothic.
Curiously, the sculpture is dug holes, 5 at the base, one at the top of the head ... maybe to nest irons littler candles?
Height: 24cm x 9,5cm.
Good condition, worn nose, base has small gaps.
