Niderviller, Louis XV Style, Pair Of Covered Apothecary Jars, Good Condition
Artist: Niderwiller
Rare pair, good condition, covered jars on pedestal, rocaille ornaments in relief outlined in purple. Decoration polychrome in low fire of a shell surrounded by foliage, in the center : a cartouche, marked for one with manganese: Sagapene: 39, and for the other: Bensoë: 22.
Models close to those of the Lorrain museum.
Our Pharmacy jars have all the characteristics of the 18th century, but would in fact be a reissue, made at the factory, taking over the old molds, from the time of charcoal ovens, before 1840.
A good earthenware collector of Lorraine was kind enough to show me his 2 jars, which are from same hand.
Dimensions = H: 31cm, D: 14cm.
Condition is excellent. Obviously, these jars were almost not used: an enamel chip on the edge under the lid, a stain of oven ash, (see arrow)
No cracks, breakages or scratches
