18th Century Louis XV Kneading Chest
18th century Louis XV style chest of drawers making a mess in its upper part, only 2 drawers open. The tray is removable allowing you to discover an airtight oak tank in which people used to make their bread dough before letting it rise and then putting it in the bread oven. Typical of Burgundy / Franche Comté, this piece of furniture was present in many homes where people made their own batch of bread. In modest circles, it was generally presented in the form of a buffet. A little rarer, wealthier people ordered a chest of drawers dedicated to this purpose and which was integrated into the kitchen near the bread oven.
