Porcelain Box From The Imperial Porcelain Manufactory Of Sèvres
Artist: Manufacture Impériale De Sèvres
A round, bulbous box resting on a base. The entire piece is decorated with hand-painted flowers and bouquets; gilded scrollwork enhances the colors. Embossed appliqués covered in gold leaf add depth. The lid features a scene based on a painting by François Boucher titled “L’entretien galant.” The hinge is made of gilded bronze with a delicate, finely chiseled locking mechanism. The interior of the box and its lid are painted with floral motifs on a white background. Beneath the heel is a stamp from the Imperial Sèvres Manufactory dating to 1805; the romantic scene also bears the painter’s signature. The piece is in excellent condition, having undergone no restoration.
