Powder Horn, Germany XVIIth Century
Beautiful and unusual Germanic powder horn, probably half of the 17th century.
The body of the object consists of a cut cow's horn.
The lower end is closed by a metal plate screwed with a large central screw.
The upper end is closed by a thick plate on which are fixed the spout, and the opening mechanism.
The mechanism is in perfect working order. A lever is used to act on the door which prevents the exit of the powder.
The orifice is kept closed by an external spring. Complete object, original, not frequently seen.
