Thiriar, James
James Thiriar was a figure painter, caricaturist, but above all a costume designer attached to the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie. He accompanied a Belgian expedition to the Ruwenzori Mountains and brought back documentation on the fauna and flora of the Congo and Sudan. A writer, he published an album, "Glory and Misery on the Flanders Front," 1914-1918, published in 1920 in Brussels (Dictionary of Belgian Painters). His works are held at the Brussels Print Room.
