Rare 19th century embroidery and silk painting representing the three children of King Leopold I and Queen Louise, born Princess of Orleans: Prince Leopold, Duke of Brabant and future Leopold II (1835-1909), Prince Philippe, Count of Flanders (1837-1905), and Princess Charlotte, future Empress of Mexico (1840-1927), from an engraving by Charles Baugniet around 1845 (see documentation).Charles Baugniet was enrolled in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels between 1827 and 1829. His first lithograph dates from 1827, and his reputation will grow with the realization of his first portraits in the magazine L'Artiste in 1833. He featured among the most sought after lithographic designers. He was commissioned to produce portraits of the Belgian royal family, which led him to be recognized as “designer of the King” by Leopold I, King of the Belgians, in 1841.
