A decoction pot from the Royal Sèvres Manufactory, dated 1847, made of white hard-paste porcelain enhanced with a rich gilt frieze of ivy leaves. It has a beautiful baluster shape, a deep spout, and a rear handle adorned with a stylized motif. The original lid has a gilt floral knob. The Sèvres mark is present on the base. This piece is in excellent condition, characteristic of the refined production of the manufactory in the 1840s. A collector's item, both medicinal and decorative, for preparing decoctions for therapeutic use.
Historical Use: These decoction pots were part of the sophisticated medical kits used in wealthy circles and by certain institutions. Fine porcelain, especially that of Sèvres, guaranteed excellent thermal and chemical resistance.
