"the Strength": Bronze Sculpture Signed L. Madrassi
Artist: Luca Madrassi (tricesimo, 1848 – Paris, 1919)
A rare, elegant figurative bronze sculpture with a medal patina, depicting a young, nude man, modestly clothed in a light veil, in a tense and expressive pose. His right arm is extended forward, his fist clenched, embodying power and physical determination. His body, slightly inclined backward, and his head turned toward his gesture, lend the whole a remarkable dynamism. The musculature is finely detailed and testifies to a perfect anatomical mastery, characteristic of Madrassi's work. The foundry mark is also present on the back.
Artist: Luca Madrassi (Tricesimo, 1848 – Paris, 1919), an Italian-born sculptor who worked in France, is known for his allegorical and heroic bronzes.
Style and Period: Academic allegorical sculpture; late 19th century; Neoclassical and Romantic influence, with a highly characteristic rendering of movement.
Subject: Allegory of Strength, embodied by an energetic and willful male figure. The powerful gesture of the outstretched arm, the twisting body, and the resolute stance bring to life a silent yet intensely expressive scene. The stylized loincloth, animated by movement, adds a touch of theatricality.
Base: Integrated bronze plinth in an organic, rocky form.
Dimensions: 32 x 13 x 20 cm.
Condition: Very good overall condition.
