J. Roberti, Portrait Of Madame Catherine De Lasnerie, 1841, Oil On Canvas, Female Portrait

Pretty female portrait signed J Roberti and dated 1841. We know a little more about the subject of the painting thanks to the inscriptions on the back of the stretcher "Catherine de Lasnerie, our grandmother" apparently carried out by her husband to the artist. It is a perfectly realized portrait, the subject does not have the frozen expression that one usually finds on this type of painting, but smiles tenderly and has a look that is both soft and friendly. Nice details - in particular the section of hair detached from the bun that comes carelessly on the shoulder - are to be noted. This pleasant painting is in good condition, no restoration has been carried out, it would undoubtedly deserve a very light wash. The old frame is in used condition it has some gaps in the painting but initially had a gilding with gold leaf which we can still see the shine in places. Canvas dimensions only: 61cm x 50cm
