Alexandre Thomas FRANCIA (1815-1884). Brown wash drawing and white gouache. Son of the French landscape painter and watercolorist, François Louis Thomas FRANCIA (1772-1839), he is like his father a recognized painter and watercolourist, specialized in marine life. He leads an international career, exhibiting in 1835 at the Paris Salon, then in London, Vienna, Antwerp and Brussels. He then settled in Belgium where he was knighted by the Order of Leopold for his artistic merits. His works are preserved in several international museums. XIXth frame with some restorations.
