Francis Garat : "view Of Paris"
Francis Garat was born in Bordeaux in 1853 (and not in 1870 as some sites claim), but essentially worked in Paris, like his colleague Galien-Laloue or Edouard Cortes with whom he presents obvious fraternities of style.
His views of the Capital, often watercolor, are animated, as here, countless trottins, cabs, flower vendors or four seasons.
There a crier of newspapers, here a couple of "swallows", policemen dressed in their characteristic gabardine cross the bourgeois strolling on the boulevards ...
It is about a drawing in gray and ocher wash on lines of pencil, heightened d watercolor, beautiful size for the Artist: 29 X 39 cm, reassembled by a marie-louise with beveled gilded in a sober frame with the superb gilding 41 X 51 cm.
Other photos and many other objects in our shops in Pau and Biarritz and on our website: galerielhoste.com.
