Thomire Dutherme - Mahogany And Ormolu Bronze Empire Period Console
exceptional mahogany and gilded bronze Empire period console. With its mirror, the quality of its bronzes and the use of a luxury mabre (Portor), our console is a high-end production. Empire Period circa 1805 1810.
The extraordinary work of the bronzes is undoubtedly the work of Pierre Philippe Thomire after models of Percier and Fontaine (several consoles of Thomire Dutherme in the national collections and French Imperial palaces that are very close to our piece).
Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843) is one of the most remarkable bronzes makers of his generation. under the Empire, he raised this profession to its highest level of quality, while creating in the early years of the 19th century, an industrial company whose influence is European. He retired in 1823.
Superb furniture in excellent condition,new varnish, bronzes gilded with mercury well preserved. Some small spots to the mercury mirror. portor marble was repaired.
