Rene Marie Castaing : "woman's Study With A Scarf"

The great artist René-Marie Castaing (1896-1943), First Grand Prix of Rome 1924, excelled particularly in the works on paper: charcoals, pastels or gouaches.
If I've never met him for obvious dates, his birthplace was right in front of the Galerie de Pau !
With a sensibility that allowed him to grasp the soul of his models, he gives us here a study of 3/4 woman with a resumption of the hand, treated with a vibrant pastel whose vigorous touch reminds us that he was friend with René Morère, more used to this kind of subjects, about 32 X 32 cm on kraft paper, unsigned but coming from the family, presented under mat 50 X 65 cm.
