French School, circa 1920 : "The Painted Woman," charcoal and pastel on paper, approximately 41 x 43 cm, mounted in a beautiful period frame, unfortunately damaged, 56 x 59 cm.
I have unfortunately been unable to identify the signature on this superb pastel, with its vigorously applied brushstrokes, full of suggestion, depicting a model with a penetrating gaze, clearly captured from life.
