Large Community Table Made Of Solid Elm—renaissance/louis XIII Style
A large community or monastery table made of solid elm, with a striking presence, measuring 2.50 m in length.
It features a superb, thick elm tabletop that retains a particularly rich and dynamic natural grain, with a beautiful brown and honey-colored patina. The tabletop is edged with an irregular, slightly undulating edge that highlights the piece’s rustic and authentic character.
The base consists of two imposing posts with scroll-cut edges, adorned with openwork trefoil motifs, joined by a long central crossbar. The entire piece rests on feet with richly carved glides.
The date “1592” is carved on the crossbar; it has been preserved as is and serves as a particularly interesting decorative element, though it does not necessarily indicate the table’s actual date of manufacture.
The piece has a Renaissance/Louis XIII style, with the aesthetic of a large communal table, particularly suited to a spacious dining room, a distinctive interior, or a château setting.
