Venice Walnut Wood Hammer
A walnut hammer, masterfully carved in the round. The object, which combines symbolic function with sculptural virtuosity, is distinguished by its richly detailed decoration, which celebrates the myth and iconography of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. The head of the hammer features two Venetian bridges on its main faces, while the upper and lower sections are embellished with floral motifs. The handle, also richly carved, continues this celebratory iconographic theme by taking the form of a veritable monumental shaft; traditional symbols and emblems of Venice are displayed along its entire length.
