Elegant “Metropolis” armchair by Poltrona Frau, a historic Art Deco-style model originally designed around 1935 and reintroduced in 1992 to mark the 80th anniversary of the company’s founding (1912–1992).
The armchair features an enveloping and monumental structure, characterized by high side panels, a wide backrest, and a deep seat. The red Frau leather upholstery, with its soft and lustrous surface, further enhances the refined geometry of the piece.
Of particular interest is the original brass plaque affixed to the back, which identifies the model as a faithful reproduction of the 1935 original, created for the anniversary of the company’s founding, with the numbered specimen No. 393.
A refined example of Poltrona Frau’s historic production, combining the sophisticated character of Art Deco design with the renowned Italian tradition of leather craftsmanship. The Metropolis model is still recognized and documented as one of the maison’s historic models.
