Limoges Enamel Triptych

Artist: Copie Pierre Reymond
Limoges copper enamel triptych.
This triptych dates from the 19th century; it is a copy inspired by the 16th-century enamels of Pierre Reymond (1513–1584), who was a great Renaissance enameler in Limoges.
The central panel bears the initials “PR” and the date 1556 (beneath the sword of the figure on the right dressed in blue).

It depicts Christ holding up the world, presenting it to the Magi. God the Father is shown in the upper crescent moon...

The colors are very vivid, and the design is exceptionally delicate.
The piece is in good condition; however, there is a small chip in the enamel on the left, at the shoulder level of the central figure dressed in red. The hinges are original but rest in recessed slots that might suggest they have been replaced (a deceptive effect intended to make the object appear older).

Dimensions of central enamel: 13 cm × 11 cm, side enamel: 13 cm x 4 cm
Frame dimensions: 36 cm x 28 cm
Dimensions when folded: 36 cm x 14.5 cm (at the height of the doors)
