émile Balon – Blois – Polychrome Earthenware Wall Vase With A Crowned Swan – 1905
An elegant wall vase made of polychrome Blois earthenware, with a flattened body and flared neck, crafted in the Renaissance style.
It features a beautiful heraldic design depicting a crowned stork holding an arrow, accompanied by the Latin motto “Candida Candidis” inscribed on a speech bubble.
The composition is surrounded by delicate foliage and arabesques, in a beautiful harmony of cobalt blue, light blue, orange-yellow, and white.
The widely flared neck is richly decorated with stylized foliage on a deep blue background. Two small side loops hold an old hanging cord.
On the reverse, a handwritten signature reads “Ulysse à Blois – E. Balon Succr,” accompanied by the workshop’s monogram and the date 1905.
