Daum Nancy
Rare Miniature Square Winter Landscape Vase With Windmills
Signed on the base in black enamel “Daum ☨ Nancy” with the Cross of Lorraine
Circa 1900-1910
A fine and scarce miniature Art Nouveau solifleur vase of square cross-section, made of mottled and layered glass.
The continuous, acid-etched and polychrome enamelled landscape depicts a poetic winter scene:
Finely detailed bare trees coated in snow, a quaint church steeple in the distance, and the highly desirable addition of Dutch-style windmills along frozen bank.
Rendered in soft misty blue, milky white, and grey tones, warmed by amber and golden-yellow horizons.
The frosted acid-textured ground gives tangible tactile depth to this cabinet-sized work of art.
Excellent condition throughout.
A particularly sought-after subject within Daum’s iconic winter series.
