Large Walnut Armchair, Italian Renaissance (tuscany), Late 16th–early 17th Century.

A very beautiful armchair, or armchair, made of carved and molded walnut from the late 16th or early 17th century, originating from the Tuscany region of Italy.
It rests on four square-section legs connected by two scalloped crossbars.
The two front legs are joined by a wide central crossbar that is cut out, openwork, and carved.
The two rear legs are also connected by a nearly identical crossbar, but without carving.
The two side rails, as well as the front rail beneath the seat, are scalloped.
The wooden seat has been upholstered in red fabric and features a finish with gilded nails.
The armrests are wide, flat, slightly curved, and end in a very slight scroll.
The rear posts of the backrest are straight with a slight slope and terminate at the top with a palmette and a scroll. They are connected by two carved and sculpted wooden bands.
Note: there are signs of wear and tear, particularly at both ends of the backrest’s crossbars, as well as four wooden brackets for reinforcement under the seat (see photos).
