"la Baignade," By Raymond Diericxs
Painter, watercolorist. Son of Joseph (José) Dierickx; nephew of Omer Dierickx.
Studied at the Brussels Academy under Constant Montald, Jean Delville, and Emile Fabry (1920–1929). First exhibition at the Galerie Georges Giroux in Brussels in 1926.
Founding member of the “Héracles” Group. Taught at the Ixelles School of Art beginning in 1932. Had a particular fondness for paintings of processions, festivals, and fairs, as well as landscapes and still lifes.
In the press: “Raymond Dierickx introduces us to a mystical world. It is the world familiar from the images of previous centuries. In his major works, the colors rival those of enamel. His palette displays a poetic splendor. He captures the light and allows it to shine anew in his work."
