René Lernon was born in 1921. He attended the Rouen School of Fine Arts and painted alongside Robert Pinchon, Magdeleine Hue, and Georges Bradberry. Throughout his life, he depicted Normandy landscapes, particularly seascapes rendered in luminous colors. In this oil painting, a meticulously rendered sky harmonizes with very delicate brushstrokes, lending great finesse to the composition. This is evident in the delicacy of the colorful buoys and the wide variety of poses among the figures and boats.
