Large Vintage First Empire Mirror, Gilded With A Green Patina (195 Cm X 95 Cm)
Ideal for lighting up the far end of a large hallway, for placing on the mantelpiece in a room with high ceilings, or on the floor as a full-length mirror, this Directoire-style mirror from the early First Empire will give your home the charm of “La Malmaison.”Two friezes of palmettes (symbolizing General Bonaparte’s Egyptian campaign) run along the molding (one gilded, the other repainted in almond green). The original mirror, which was missing, has been replaced with a new silvered glass panel. Finding one of exactly the same size remains a challenge; the price reflects this.
