Bronze Bust Of Emperor Franz Joseph I Of Austria
A rare and important period desk bust, entirely original from 1908, cast specifically for the solemn celebrations marking the Diamond Jubilee of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria (60th anniversary of his accession to the throne, 1848–1908).
The bronze sculpture depicts the Habsburg sovereign in his later years with his characteristic sideburns, portrayed from the front in full military field uniform. The craftsmanship is of the highest quality: the details of the imperial order, the medals of merit on his chest, and the braiding on his parade jacket are chiseled with extraordinary precision typical of the period.
The object is an authentic and original piece from the Austro-Hungarian period (1908) and not a modern reproduction. This is evidenced by the superb original brown patina—deep and uniform—the typical signs of casting and hand-finishing from the period, and the original mounting on the base.
The bronze piece rests on an elegant, thick, molded circular base, finely finished in veined marble and bronze, which ensures stability and enhances the piece in a prestigious setting, such as a library or study.
Condition as shown in the photos.
