The Garonne, Bordeaux, Stone Bridge, Oil On Panel, 1930. Daliel Rigodon
Artist: Daniel Rigodon. Bordeaux.
Daniel Rigodon was a painter from Bordeaux about whom little biographical information is known. He was active in Bordeaux, the Arcachon Basin, and the Landes region during the first half of the 20th century. I own a work dated 1935. This oil on wood panel dates from the same period. It depicts a common theme: navigation on the Garonne River and commerce in Bordeaux. In the foreground, we see a gabarre approaching the Pont de Pierre, the famous Bordeaux bridge inaugurated in 1821.
