Animated landscape work, strangeness of the scene depicted: a character in the foreground losing his hat and leaving his umbrella behind. The winter trees, with their cadaverous appearance, set a dark, intriguing and even disturbing scene in a composition that takes on the appearance of naive art, with curved lines and backgrounds that approach pictorial patterned games. The work is in good condition, signed Matkulenska and dated 1953. Little information circulates on the artist whose presence in Paris is known from the 1930s (via the other works also offered on our seller page).
