Jules Vieillard Bordeaux, David Johnston, Important Tableware Set With English Motifs. 19th Century.
Artist: Jules Vieillard Bordeaux, David Johnston
An important 19th-century earthenware dinner service, produced in Bordeaux by the Jules Vieillard and David Johnston earthenware factories. The design features English-inspired interlaced floral motifs in shades of blue. This set is composed of several combined collections, featuring different stamps and markings from both earthenware factories. There are some variations in color contrast and depth.
Certain pieces are exceptional due to their condition and rarity. Some have chipping and chips on the underside (non-visible areas). Additional pieces (not described or photographed) will be included with this set, as they are in fair condition and have been restored with metal clasps.
The service consists of:
29 dinner plates, 10 soup bowls, 2 fish platters with separate bases, 1 soup tureen, 1 butter dish, 1 asparagus dish, 5 fruit bowls, 7 round serving dishes (32 cm in diameter), and 3 rectangular serving dishes. These pieces are large in size.
