Eight Creil And Montereau Earthenware Plates From The “japan” Set, 1876, 19th Century.
Artist: Creil Et Montereau
Eight beautiful dinner plates from the famous “Japon” dinner service, produced starting in 1876 by the Creil and Montereau pottery.
They are characterized by fine earthenware with a slightly bluish body, onto which a design is printed in a darker blue.
The design features motifs of cherry trees, plum trees, and fences adorned with chrysanthemum flowers.
It is also known as the “Monet set” because the artist owned a similar set at his estate in Giverny.
The set is in exceptional condition—it looks as good as new despite its age.
Perfect for complementing a collection of Chinese porcelain or East India Company porcelain, for lovers of beautifully set tables, or even for a sushi night with friends!
