Mahogany And Mahogany-veneer Athénienne, Gilt Bronze, Directoire Period, Early 19th Century.
Beautiful Athenian in mahogany and mahogany veneer with tripod base, finished with golden bronze lion's legs, embellished with two tablets and topped with a pretty slightly veined white marble light gray from Carrara (removable).
Today saddle because it is covered with a marble, but at the beginning of the 19th century, this Athenian was garnished with a round porcelain and its aiguière serving as a sink.
Time has passed since the empire and the porcelain has disappeared, or broken.
We have therefore replaced, if we cannot find the model porcelain, with a marble top.
The assembly has been completely restored with a pretty traditional stamp varnish and the marble has not been glued so as to see the flared work of the wood under it.
Ideal to complete a decor from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Very elegant, with beautiful proportions.
