Oswald Heidbrinck, View Of Paris During The Belle époque: Grand Boulevard, C. 1900 Impressionism

This painting by Heidbrinck depicts the Grands Boulevards of Paris during the Belle Époque. The street scene is lively—even festive—with elegant figures dressed in early 1900s attire as a tram approaches and comes to a stop. The narrative and pictorial rhythm is intriguing, and one can sense the influence of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and Divisionist painting throughout this work, which captures both the form and spirit of the era of grand Paris. 

The level of detail is superb, and the juxtaposition of colors creates a vibrant painting. 

A native of Bordeaux, Oswald Heidbrinck (1852–1914) exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and contributed illustrations to numerous periodicals. He frequently explored Parisian themes in his work. 

The canvas is in very good condition. The frame is from the 1940s in the Montparnasse style.
