Jean Jaffeux Bowl With Birds Ceramic 20th Century Circa 1950/60 (j. Lurçat)
Artist: Jean Jaffeux
Bird bowl signed Jean Jaffeux (1931-2015). An artist from the Auvergne region, born into a family of artists, and based in the Puy-de-Dôme, he was a ceramicist specializing in lava enameling and a decorative painter. He met Jean Lurçat and also Lurçat's friend Paul Corriger, who had been working with lava stone since the 1950s. His enameling work on lava stone is decorative and exceptionally well-executed, as he learned from Jean Borel (1886-1990). This is a beautiful bird bowl in shades of blue, brown, orange, and white, with a motif typical of the 1950s. Dimensions: 24.5 cm in diameter, 6.5 cm in height.
