Late 19th Century. Portable Microscope.
Going out to hunt for small insects—or other specimens yet to be identified—was a common activity in the late 19th or early 20th century. Middle school students were still taught to observe the wonders of nature in the field.
This small microscope was practical and easy to carry in a coat pocket to examine the details of a discovery.
It is practically new and has been used very little, as has its protective case.
The only thing missing is a glass slide to hold the specimen to be observed; there is a compartment in the box designed for this purpose.
