Pair Of Large Regency-style Armchairs With High Backs And Wide Seats, Velvet Upholstery, 19th Century

A very attractive pair of Regency-style armchairs in solid walnut.
Each chair rests on four curved legs, finished with a beautiful scroll topped by an acanthus leaf.
The front crossbar is heavily scalloped and richly carved; it is adorned in the center with a beautiful shell framed by foliage.
The two side crossbars are also scalloped and decorated with foliage and shells.
The seats of our chairs are very wide and extremely comfortable; they have been completely reupholstered recently.
The backrest is wide and very high, providing great comfort for the back.
The upholstery fabric is a beautiful light beige velvet and is in good condition; however, we note a very small cigarette burn mark on the left edge of the seat (see last photo).
The armrest supports are decorated at their bases with an acanthus leaf motif, and the ends of the armrests feature beautiful inlay work.
Our pair of chairs is a fine piece of craftsmanship from the second half of the 19th century.
These chairs are extremely comfortable and very sturdy.
