A North Italian Set Of Four Armchairs In Carved Walnut Wood. Venice, 18th Century
A set of four Venetian armchairs from the 18th century, crafted in finely carved walnut wood, exemplifying the elegant and dynamic taste characteristic of eighteenth century lagoon production. The armchairs feature shaped openwork backs, distinguished by a refined central motif that lends great visual lightness and reflects a high level of craftsmanship. The back lines are soft and continuous, with carefully modeled profiles and harmonious transitions. The shaped armrests, gently curved, flow naturally into the structure, accompanying the seat with a fluid and sinuous movement. The seats are padded and upholstered in floral-patterned fabric. The curved legs, slender and elegant, terminate in carved scroll feet, recalling the formal vocabulary of the Rococo style and imparting a sense of movement to the whole. The shaped front stretcher is embellished with a central carved ornament.
