A George III sterling silver coffee pot, Joseph Craddock & William Ker Reid, London, 1816

The body, of slightly tapering cylindrical form, stands on a moulded circular foot, enriched at the lower edge with a band of repoussé and finely chased acanthus leaves in high relief. The upper section is decorated with an engraved frieze composed of geometric latticework reserves, scrolls, pendants, and stylised foliate motifs. An engraved coat of arms occupies the centre of the body. The elegantly elongated, gracefully curved spout is richly ornamented with naturalistic acanthus leaves and scrolling foliage. The domed hinged cover is surmounted by a pinecone finial.
