A very interesting early 20th-century oil on canvas titled “The Haunted House,” from the School of Paris, likely depicting a ruined house in Montmartre. The atmosphere of the painting is deeply unsettling, with dark, metallic colors, a stormy sky streaked with lightning, a ghostly figure appearing at the window, and a figure who appears to be a priest walking along the side of the house through the snow. The anonymous artist who created this painting plunges us into the torments of the Haunted House.
Painting in its original condition with a few scuffs (see photos), no previous restorations, loose canvas, nails need to be re-secured; one of the mounting rings on the stretcher pierced the canvas, creating a small, barely visible hole.
