The painter is featured in major reference works on Naïve art. A similar painting is depicted in "Proverbs as Seen by Naïve Painters" published by Max Fourny (see last photo).

A refined bucolic scene in the heart of a flowery park, where musicians and strollers gather around a pond enlivened by swans and floating flowers. The circular composition, soft colors, and abundance of detail recreate the gentle and enchanting atmosphere characteristic of the artist.

Valentina Donati was a self-taught Italian Naïve painter active in the second half of the 20th century. She belongs to the Italian tradition of poetic naive art, alongside artists such as Paolo Donati and Filiberto Mazzarella. Her paintings are characterized by idyllic gardens, pastoral scenes, and timeless moments, imbued with a decorative sensibility that evokes happy memories and simple joy. Her works circulated in regional Italian salons and then in French galleries specializing in naive art in the 1960s and 70s, where they found a dedicated audience of collectors. Here, the harp at the center of the composition acts as a symbol of harmony: everything converges toward a feeling of peace, beauty, and lightness. A luminous, joyful work, typical of Valentina Donati's poetic language.
