The scattered farmhouses of Fuipiano, in the Imagna Valley (Bergamo), are one of the most emblematic examples of the spontaneous rural architecture of the Orobic Pre-Alps. These traditional structures (often called “baite” or “rustici”) are characterized by their famous “piode” roofs ” (slabs of local stone)—originally designed to allow snow to slide off and masterfully laid over wooden beams.
