Artist: Adolf Kaufmann (1848 - 1916)
Born in Troppau, the painter Adolf Kaufmann (1848 - 1916)was initially self-taught and studied with Emilie de Marcke de Lummen in Paris. The French "paysage intime" and the Barbizon school influenced his work. Kaufmann made many trips that took him to the East. He lived in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Munich. In 1890, he settled in Vienna, became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and founded the school of painting of private women. Between 1890 and 1913, he frequently exhibited in the Vienna Künstlerhaus and the Munich Glass Palace. Adolf Kaufmann died in 1916 in Vienna.
