Rare Solid Silver Half-tray – Empire Period – Signed “meurand” In Paris
Rare solid silver protractor, dating from the early 19th century, during the Empire period or the early Restoration.
Precision instrument signed “Meurand à Paris,” featuring fine engraved graduations.
It bears the Paris small hallmark featuring a lictor’s fasces with an axe in the center, used between 1809 and 1819, as well as a silversmith’s mark that has yet to be identified.
Particularly interesting due to its construction in solid silver, a material much less common than the brass typically used for this type of scientific instrument.
A beautiful collector’s item, representative of early 19th-century measuring and precision instruments.
