Monique Gerber – Bronze Paperweight With Floral Design, Circa 1970

A unique French bronze paperweight, attributed to Monique Gerber, dating from around 1970. This circular piece features a deep, recessed floral design, with sculptural petals surrounding the center of the flower.

The smooth, polished rim and edge, with golden highlights, contrast beautifully with the dark patina and textured surface of the floral design. Weighing 885 grams, this compact and particularly heavy object is suitable both as a paperweight and as a decorative piece on a desk or in a collection of French design.

Monique Gerber was a French designer and publisher of bronze art and functional objects, associated with L’Art du Bronze. Among the pieces released under her name are paperweights, bowls, and trinket dishes. Many of these objects from the 1960s and 1970s are distinguished by their organic forms and the contrast between polished surfaces and raw, patinated textures.

The underside bears two small marks as well as a handwritten label with the name Monique Gerber. Other examples of this floral design are listed under her name.

In good vintage condition, with scratches, signs of wear, and variations in patina consistent with its age. Four transparent protective pads have been added under the base. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
