Rare 1890 Damon & Delente Candy Dish, Daum Glassware, Galle Era, Art Nouveau
Artist: Damon Et Delente, Verrerie Daum
Rare candy dish on a small enameled glass saucer by Damon and Delente, from the “Au vase étrusque” store, made by Daum, circa 1890.
A beautiful piece of ribbed glassware, finely enameled with a design of scrolls and multicolored flowers. The noble origin of the glassware is easily recognizable, as Louis Damon commissioned his glass pieces—notably from Daum—to decorate them himself afterward. Their shop, “Au vase étrusque,” was located on Boulevard Malsherbes in Paris between 1880 and 1900.
A beautiful melon-shaped vase with a central flower and a decorative frieze.
Very good condition, 18 cm in diameter; the signature is still visible but partially erased (see photo); one can still clearly read “Damon et Delente, Boulevard Malsherbes,” circa 1890.
An antique, rare piece, representing Daum’s very earliest glasswork.
