Vase With Applied Grapes By Ioan Nemtoi, Homage To Daum, 75 Cm High, 17.4 Kg!
Artist: Ioan Nemtoi (1964)
An exceptional vase with grapes, a tribute by the artist Ioan Nemtoi to the famous Daum vase in the Museum of Fine Arts in Nancy (last photo). A piece of impressive size and technical skill. Commissioned in two copies for a château near Dreux. The vase is entirely mouth-blown, with an interlayer of powdered glass in shades of blue, pink, purple, green, and yellow. The entire decoration is applied with pink grape clusters and vine tendrils in hot-applied green and brown drips. An exceptional work of glassmaking. One must fully appreciate the size of the object and the work required to create it. It's difficult to grasp: over 17 kilos, 75 cm high, and with an opening diameter of 42 cm! It's a true technical challenge and breathtakingly beautiful. Ioan Nemtoi wanted to pay homage to the vase with grapes created by Daum around 1925. This unique vase is housed in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, Place Stanislas. But it should be noted that this one is much larger and therefore even more difficult to execute. A masterpiece by the glass artist. For your information: Ioan Nemtoi is a renowned glass artist recognized worldwide.
