Antique Handmade Persian Oriental Rug From Hamadan, Iran—205 Cm X 136 Cm

Antique Persian rug from the Hamadan region - Circa 1930
Antique Persian Oriental rug, entirely hand-knotted, dating from the first third of the 20th century, circa 1930.
This rug comes from village workshops in the province of Hamadan (northwestern Persia), renowned for the sturdiness of their creations and the bold geometry of their patterns. Remarkable natural horizontal abrash in shades of coral and blue, attesting to the use of artisanal wool from that era, hand-spun and hand-dyed with vegetable pigments.

The rug is in its original condition, displaying a beautiful patina of use. The high-quality wool pile has retained good density across most of the surface. Note a localized area of normal wear where the pile is short and reveals the backing (see close-up photos), attesting to its age and authenticity.
