Saddled Horse Bronze Sculpture - – French Fbl Casting - John Willis Good

Artist: John Willis Good
John Willis Good Saddled Horse Bronze Sculpture – French FBL Casting

An elegant patinated bronze sculpture depicting a saddled thoroughbred horse, based on a model by the renowned British animalier sculptor John Willis Good (1845–1879).

The horse is represented standing gracefully on a naturalistic base decorated with flowers and vegetation. Its refined proportions and detailed modelling capture the anatomical elegance and noble character of a thoroughbred.

Particular attention has been given to the finely modelled head, mane, saddle, bridle, muscular structure and distinctive short tail.

The sculpture carries the inscription "WILLIS-GOOD", together with a "CIRE PERDUE BRONZE" stamp and a foundry monogram consistent with FBL – Fonderie de Bronze Lauragaise, France.

The model corresponds to "Cheval Sellé" (CH24), documented in the official catalogue of the French foundry.

Established in 1979, Fonderie de Bronze Lauragaise is recognised for its traditional lost-wax bronze casting techniques and its reproductions of important historical sculptures.

This example is considered a later French casting after the original 19th-century model by John Willis Good, rather than a lifetime cast.

Its warm brown patina, sculptural detail and classical equestrian subject make it a distinguished decorative piece for a study, library or traditional interior.
