Polychrome Porcelain Group – Six Putti with Fruit – Rococo Style

A very beautiful decorative group in polychrome glazed porcelain depicting six putti gathered in a lively composition richly adorned with fruit and flowers, in the Rococo style.

This charming scene features six children in various poses, arranged around a richly detailed natural setting.

At the center of the composition, a standing putto lifts an elegant, flowing drapery in shades of purple and cream. The five other figures are depicted in lively and expressive poses.

The ensemble rests on a setting teeming with grape clusters, small orange and yellow fruits, green foliage, and finely modeled floral elements.

The presence of grapes and fruit evokes themes of abundance, the harvest, and celebration—motifs traditionally associated with Bacchic depictions and allegories of the seasons in European decorative arts.

The modeling is particularly striking in the rendering of the faces, hair, gestures, and various poses of the figures.

The polychromy highlights the fair complexions with delicate pinkish tones, the chestnut and blond hair, and the brightly colored drapery.

The group rests on a large, ornate base, decorated with a floral frieze in relief composed of small roses and foliage, embellished with a central purple bow and gold fillets.

Beneath the base is a small blue mark resembling a crowned “N,” a mark traditionally associated with Capodimonte-style porcelain and also used by various European manufacturers.

The exact manufacturer remains to be confirmed. A German origin and 20th-century production are tentatively suggested.

A particularly expressive decorative piece, notable for the richness of its composition, its polychrome decoration, and the presence of six figures gathered in a single scene.
